Terms of Service
These terms govern your use of Alice Home Intelligence — an AI-powered home management platform.
1.Scope of Agreement and AI Consent
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of Alice Home Intelligence ("Alice," "the Service," "we," "us," or "our") — including the mobile application, web application, platform interfaces, and related services. Alice is operated by Alice Home Intelligence, Inc., a Maryland corporation. References to "Alice" or "the Service" throughout these Terms refer to this operating entity.
Critical Notice on Artificial Intelligence & Trade Disclaimers
This Service incorporates automated generative artificial intelligence and Retrieval-Augmented Generation ("RAG") architectures (collectively, "AI Features"). By activating, enabling, or interacting with the AI Features, you explicitly acknowledge and agree to the special liability disclaimers, data isolation structures, and accuracy limitations set forth in Section 4 of these Terms. If you do not agree to these conditions, you must not interact with the AI Features.
2.Eligibility, Account Responsibility, and Multi-User Access
Eligibility. You must be at least 18 years of age and hold the complete legal capacity to execute a binding contract to utilize this Service. The Service is configured and intended exclusively for residential properties located within the United States.
Account Responsibility and Password Hygiene. You agree to deliver accurate, current, and verifiable information during account setup. Account access is tied directly to individual credentials. You are entirely responsible for maintaining strong password hygiene and preventing unauthorized credential sharing. You must report any suspected access breaches immediately to support@alicehomeai.com.
Family and Co-Owner Access Liability. The platform allows primary users to provision access permissions for household members, co-owners, or collaborative entities ("Co-Owners"). The primary account holder explicitly assumes full joint and several liability for all actions, uploads, chat interactions, and compliance violations executed by Co-Owners associated with their property dashboard.
3.Description of Service and Relationship Separation
Alice is a data-driven home management platform that permits homeowners, occupants, and property managers to track property specifications, roof dimensions, home systems, and hardware components. The platform supports documenting maintenance occurrences, service logs, and storing warranty and insurance documents within an isolated digital storage infrastructure ("Document Vault").
4.AI Advisory-Only Disclaimers & Emergency Carve-Out
AI Advisory-Only Nature. The Alice Assistant uses a multi-layered retrieval pipeline consisting of semantic embeddings, contextual keyword matching, and large language models to assist with property indexing. Alice operates as a software product and the Alice Assistant functions as an algorithmic information system. Nothing generated within the App constitutes an on-site engineering assessment, building code clearance, or formal roofing estimate. Alice is not a licensed structural engineer, general contractor, or trade professional.
Professional Substitution Disclaimer. Alice is not a licensed structural engineer, general construction contractor, licensed plumber, certified electrician, HVAC technician, gas-fitter, or pest-control operator. The AI Features deliver general informational summaries based on uploaded documents. Alice does not verify whether your property complies with your local municipality's current building codes. No message, suggestion, or calculation inside the App constitutes a professional trade inspection or certification. You are responsible for verifying any mechanical step, configuration, or safety-critical workflow with a qualified, on-site licensed professional before executing any physical modifications or repairs.
Life Safety and 911 Carve-Out. The Alice Assistant is completely unrated for emergency scenarios. If you detect the smell of natural gas, observe structural shifting, witness electrical sparking, or experience any threat to life or safety, you explicitly acknowledge that you must immediately abandon interaction with the Service, evacuate the structure, and contact emergency personnel or dial 911 immediately.
5.Third-Party Contractor and Trainer Disclaimers
The Service may offer integrations or connections to external home-service contractors or third-party professional trainers ("Contractors"). Alice is a non-participating platform provider and is not a party to any independent service agreements, scopes of work, or contracts executed between you and such Contractors. We do not warrant the state licensing status, insurance coverages, professional background, or work quality of any external Contractor linked through the App. Your use of third-party Contractor services is at your own risk.
6.User Content Ownership and Operational License Scope
You retain ownership of all text, data, photographs, property metrics, and manufacturer manuals uploaded to the App ("User Content"). By uploading content, you grant Alice a limited, non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide license to host, parse, vectorize, cache, and programmatically query your User Content solely to operate the platform and deliver customized AI responses to you. Alice does not share or license User Content or personal chat logs to external entities for the training of general public foundational AI models. This operational license terminates when your account data is deleted from our systems.
7.Acceptable Use and Platform Restrictions
You explicitly agree that you will not, under any circumstances, engage in or permit any third party to perform the following:
- Reverse engineer, decompile, parse, or attempt to extract the underlying service routing, prompt structures, or algorithmic weights powering the App.
- Use automated scrapers, web crawlers, indexers, or scripted bots to harvest content from the App or systematically strain the AI backend.
- Inject malicious prompts designed to bypass safety boundaries, exploit software vulnerabilities, or force code execution errors ("prompt injection attacks").
- Utilize the AI Features to generate content that is inherently fraudulent, defamatory, harassing, or in direct violation of applicable structural safety, roofing safety, or municipal regulations.
- Impersonate any individual, misrepresent your affiliation with a property, or submit fraudulent structural documentation.
8.Device OS-Level Permissions Framework
Alice asks for permission to use certain features on your phone or tablet. Here's exactly what each permission is for, and what happens if you decide not to grant it:
| Permission | Why we ask | What happens if you say no |
|---|---|---|
| Camera | So you can take photos of home systems, roof areas, or appliance labels and have Alice add them to your records. | You can still add photos by uploading them from your phone, but you won't be able to snap them directly from the app. |
| Photo Library | So you can pick existing photos (like an inspection report or warranty image) and attach them to your home records. | You'll need to use the camera to capture new photos each time; existing photos won't be available to attach. |
| Notifications | So Alice can remind you about maintenance, send security alerts, or let you know when something needs your attention. | You won't receive reminders or alerts unless you open the app and check manually. |
| Location | To help Alice suggest things relevant to your area — like local building codes or weather-based maintenance tips. | You'll need to enter your address manually. Alice does not track your location in the background. |
| Files / Storage | So you can upload PDFs like appliance manuals, warranty documents, or inspection reports into your Document Vault. | You won't be able to upload documents, and the AI Assistant won't have your records to draw from when answering questions. |
| Calendar | So Alice can add maintenance reminders or trainer visit appointments directly to your phone's calendar. | Reminders will still appear inside Alice, but won't sync to your phone's calendar app. |
9.Pricing, Subscriptions, and Trainer Visit Payments
Free Access
When you create an Alice account, you are enrolled in the Free plan by default. The Free plan lets you add up to one property to your account and send up to ten (10) AI chat messages per day. There is no charge for the Free plan.
Subscription Plans
To unlock additional properties and higher AI chat limits, you may subscribe to a paid plan. The following plans are available:
- Pro Plan — $12 per month. Up to 3 properties, and up to 20 AI chat messages per day.
- Premium Plan — $29 per month. Unlimited properties, and up to 50 AI chat messages per day.
Prices are shown in US dollars. Local currency, taxes, and store-specific pricing may vary and will be displayed to you before purchase in the App Store or Google Play Store.
How Subscriptions Are Billed
Alice subscriptions are managed and billed by the app store you downloaded the App from:
- If you subscribed on an iPhone or iPad, your subscription is billed through your Apple ID using Apple's StoreKit system. Apple's Media Services Terms apply to the payment portion of the transaction.
- If you subscribed on an Android device, your subscription is billed through your Google account using Google Play Billing. Google's Google Play Terms of Service apply to the payment portion of the transaction.
Auto-Renewal
Paid subscriptions are set to renew automatically at the end of each billing period at the then-current price, unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the renewal date. Your payment method on file with Apple or Google will be charged automatically. You can review your active subscriptions and next renewal date at any time from your device's subscription settings.
How to Cancel
You can cancel your subscription at any time. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current paid period — you continue to have access until then, and you are not charged again.
- iPhone / iPad: Open Settings › tap your name › Subscriptions › select Alice › Cancel Subscription.
- Android: Open the Google Play Store app › tap your profile › Payments & subscriptions › Subscriptions › select Alice › Cancel.
If you delete the Alice app without cancelling the subscription, you will continue to be billed by Apple or Google. Uninstalling the app does not cancel the subscription.
Refunds
Because subscriptions are billed by Apple or Google, refund requests must be submitted to them directly. Apple and Google each have their own refund policies, which apply to all subscription purchases made through their platforms:
- Apple: Visit reportaproblem.apple.com and follow Apple's process to request a refund.
- Google: Follow Google's refund request process in the Play Store.
Alice does not process subscription refunds directly. However, if you believe there is an error or you have a question about your subscription, please contact support@alicehomeai.com and we will help where we can.
Price Changes
If we change the price of a subscription, current subscribers will be notified in advance in accordance with Apple or Google's requirements. Where required by law, you will have the opportunity to review and accept the new price before it takes effect; otherwise the auto-renewal feature will be disabled.
Trainer Visit Payments (Separate from Subscriptions)
Alice offers an optional service through which you may book an in-home visit by an Alice Trainer to configure and customize the platform. Trainer visits are a separate, physical service delivered at your home and are not billed through the App Store or Google Play. They are billed independently through Stripe, Inc.
How Trainer Pricing Works. Trainer visits are billed based on the time spent at your home and the size of your property. We do not publish a fixed price for trainer visits because the scope of work varies meaningfully between homes. After you request a trainer visit:
- An Alice representative will contact you by phone or email to discuss the scope of work and provide an estimated price.
- If you agree to the estimate, the visit will be scheduled.
- At the end of the visit, you will receive an itemized invoice in the app showing the actual amount due.
- Payment is processed after the visit through Stripe using the payment method on file.
Trainer Visit Cancellations. To cancel or reschedule a trainer visit, please email support@alicehomeai.com with your appointment details. We will typically respond within one to two business days. As long as no visit has taken place, no charges will apply.
Trainer Visit Refunds and Disputes. If a trainer does not show up for a confirmed visit, or if the visit cannot be completed for reasons attributable to the trainer or Alice, contact support@alicehomeai.com to request a refund. If you believe an invoice charge is incorrect, contact support within thirty (30) days of the charge. We will review and, where appropriate, issue a refund through Stripe.
App Store Beneficiary Disclaimer
You acknowledge that these Terms are concluded between you and Alice only, and not with Apple, Inc. or Google, LLC. Alice is solely responsible for the App content, system support, and warranty provisions.
10.Termination and Data Deletion Timeline
You may delete your Alice account at any time from the profile settings panel within the App.
30-Day Reactivation Window. When you request account deletion, your account is immediately deactivated — you can no longer log in, your data is hidden from the platform, and others cannot find or interact with your profile. However, your data is preserved in a non-active, encrypted state for thirty (30) days. During this window, you can reactivate your account by contacting support@alicehomeai.com from the email address associated with your account, and all of your data will be restored.
Permanent Deletion After 30 Days. If you do not reactivate within thirty (30) days, your personal identifiers, transaction records, chat logs, document indexes, and uploaded files will be removed from our active databases. Encrypted backups containing your data will be retained for up to sixty (60) additional days before being overwritten, after which your data is no longer recoverable.
Termination by Alice. We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time, with or without cause and with or without notice. Grounds for termination include violation of these Terms, fraudulent activity, or conduct that may harm the Service. In the case of termination for cause, the 30-day reactivation window may not apply.
11.Enumeration of Core Third-Party Vendors
To deliver platform operations, the Service relies on infrastructure integrations with the following core vendors:
- Amazon Web Services (AWS). Cloud infrastructure, data partitioning, and database hosting.
- Anthropic, PBC. Enterprise API language modeling and query processing for the AI Assistant.
- Hugging Face, Inc. Natural language models used for the conversational onboarding experience, where Alice asks about your home during initial setup. Used under a paid plan with a data processing agreement; inputs are not used to train Hugging Face's models.
- Google, Inc. Mapping infrastructure and Google Places API metadata.
- Apple, Inc. (StoreKit). Subscription billing, auto-renewal management, and refund processing for iOS users.
- Google, LLC (Google Play Billing). Subscription billing, auto-renewal management, and refund processing for Android users.
- Stripe, Inc. Payment processing for trainer visit invoices only. Not used for subscriptions.
12.Proprietary Intellectual Property Ownership
The App — including its design, code, search algorithms, visual branding, prompt sets, and original content — is owned by Alice and is protected by copyright, trademark, and intellectual property law. You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, or create derivative works based on our intellectual property without prior written consent. "Alice," "Alice Home Intelligence," and related logos are trademarks of Alice Home Intelligence, Inc.
13.Complete Disclaimer of Warranties
The Service, including all algorithmic outputs and generated text content, is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis, without warranties of any kind. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Alice disclaims all warranties, express, implied, statutory, or otherwise, including the implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the system will operate without interruption or error.
14.Definitive Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, in no event shall Alice, its parent, subsidiaries, officers, shareholders, or personnel be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages — including damage to property, water damage, personal injury, or loss of data, revenue, or profitability — arising from your use of the Service or reliance on the AI Assistant.
What this means in plain English: Alice's total liability for any claim relating to your use of the Service is limited by law. This limitation of liability does not restrict:
- Your App Store or Google Play refund rights. If you subscribed through Apple or Google, you may request a refund through their standard processes, and those refund rights are governed by Apple's and Google's own terms — not by this cap.
- Your statutory consumer rights. Some U.S. states and other jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of certain damages. In those jurisdictions, this limitation applies only to the maximum extent permitted by law.
- Alice's obligations to you for its own gross negligence, willful misconduct, or fraud. These are not limited by this section.
Subject to the above, for any residual claim not covered by App Store/Google Play refund rights or a specific statutory remedy, Alice's total aggregate liability shall not exceed the amount you paid Alice or its payment processors (through subscriptions or trainer visit fees) in the twelve months immediately preceding the claim.
15.Corporate Indemnification
You agree to defend, hold harmless, and indemnify Alice, its directors, and operational staff against any third-party claims, liabilities, expenses, regulatory fines, or judgments (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising directly from: (i) your violation of these Terms; (ii) your User Content; (iii) your use of the Service; or (iv) physical actions taken on real estate property, roof assemblies, or building systems based on your reliance on AI-generated text.
16.Governing Law and Dispute Jurisdiction
These Terms, along with all operational system rules, shall be interpreted, executed, and governed exclusively under the laws of the State of Maryland, United States. Both parties explicitly agree that any legal action, dispute resolution, or court proceeding not subject to binding arbitration shall be litigated exclusively within the state or federal courts located in Prince George's County, Maryland.
17.Update Notice and In-App Heads-Up Framework
We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. If we make material changes, we will deliver a mandatory, binding heads-up notice displayed as a blocking system modal directly inside the App interface or via your registered email endpoint at least fourteen (14) days before the changes take effect. Continued use of the Service after the 14-day window constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms. In lieu of email, we may deliver binding notices of material changes via an in-app system modal or a mandatory update prompt upon mobile application startup.
